Sign-Up for a Clinical Obstructive Sleep Apnea Study
stephenlega • Aug 15, 2022

Tens of millions of people across the United States are affected by sleep apnea, a sleep disorder. You or someone you love may have this condition if you have symptoms such as:

  • Frequent breathing stoppages when you fall asleep
  • Loud and persistent snoring
  • Waking up with a dry mouth
  • Waking up with a headache
  • Feel tired even after a night of sleep
  • Fatigue
  • Irritability
  • Trouble staying focused
  • Daytime sleepiness

If so, our team at Isaacs Family Dental wants to help you and others to get deep, healthy sleep for many years to come. Call 317-298-3384 for a consultation about sleep apnea treatments through our sister service Sleep Better Indy .

Basics of the Research Study

In addition to our research, you may be able to help yourself and others by participating in a clinical research study being conducted in the SURMOUNT-OSA area.

  • The researchers are seeking individuals who meet the following criteria:
    Are 18 years or older
  • Have been diagnosed with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea
  • Are classified as obese based on their body mass index
  • Are willing to follow certain diet restrictions and an exercise regimen
  • Have tried dieting to lose weight but were unsuccessful

Qualified participants will receive all study-related care at no cost. You also may be compensated for some study-related activities

To apply, call 317-671-9168.

Why Sleep Apnea Treatment Is Important

People who have sleep apnea are at a greater risk of a variety of health issues:

  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Diabetes complications
  • Heart attacks
  • Hypertension (high blood pressure)
  • Strokes

Since this is a sleep disorder, you won’t be surprised to know that sleep deprivation is another common effect of OSA. That, in turn, makes people with untreated sleep apnea more likely to be involved in automobile accidents.

How well or how poorly you sleep has an impact on every area of your life. When you haven’t slept well, you may not have the energy to enjoy time with your family and friends. You may trouble completing tasks at work. You also may find you become annoyed easily, which can interfere with the most important relationships in your life.

Do something good for yourself by seeking treatment for your obstructive sleep apnea. Do something that could have an effect on how others are treated for this condition by taking part in the research study mentioned above.

Call us today at 317-298-3384 or contact us online to request your next appointment at our Indianapolis dental practice. We look forward to speaking with you at Isaacs Family Dental.
